In 1975, Kiyoshi Benlong (an overseas Japanese resident of Brazil) introduced a new substance to Dr. Iwade of Japan: a "novel mushroom unique to Brazil in South America, but not available in Japan." Dr. Iwade immediately invested a lot of capital, manpower, and painstaking effort into growing this mushroom. After 10 years of effort, he thus finally completed the artificial cultivation of this "Himematsutake" crop. On that day, in a makeshift greenhouse, researchers cried hand in hand as they witnessed the young mushrooms popping out of their cultivation spots. Dr. Iwade's voice was also trembling with emotion.

After years of breeding and research in pursuit of the best strain, the new mushroom was designated Himematsutake (Iwade Strain 101). Over the years, research on mushrooms has continued in Japan at the Iwade Research Institute of Mycology, chaired by Dr. Hayashi Iwade. Dr. Iwade has devoted his life to mushroom research and enlightenment, such that he is revered as the "mushroom research expert." In accordance with Dr. Iwade’s will, the Iwade Research Institute of Mycology continues to carry out research and development to this day. Hailing from Japan, Himematsutake (Iwade Strain 101) has been actively studied by the Iwade Research Institute of Mycology, the Medical Department of Mie University, and Shizuoka University. It has been confirmed in a variety of academic research. Several patents and world-class safety certifications have been granted in Europe, America, and Japan, and it has applied to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for registration as a nutritious food.
